Our Fundraising Search Presents: Nonprofit Salary and Satisfaction Survey Results

Turnover rates among fundraisers is an endemic problem in the industry.  Depending on which survey you look at, the turnover rate is generally held to be in the 18-to-24 month range, with some studies showing them as low as 14 months. The common belief is that fundraiser attrition is about compensation, but research shows that compensation is the factor least correlated to job satisfaction.  Satisfaction with coworkers and supervision are moderately correlated to job satisfaction, but feeling satisfied with the work itself is consistently found to have the highest correlation to job satisfaction and, therefore, retention.
